Hannah Black, the person
Hyde Park is Hannah Black’s home. She was educated in the Hyde Park public school system and graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 2002.
“After graduating from college, I returned to Hyde Park because it has so much potential for its residents, and it’s a place that people can really take pride in.”
For the past three years, Hannah has been employed by the NYS Unified Court System Statewide Children's Centers Program.
Goals for Hyde Park

Continue to advocate for access to public water and help solve flooding and drainage issues for Ward 3 residents.

Create an environment that is business friendly by having annual Chamber of Commerce and recreational events to bring more people into Hyde Park

Encourage volunteerism to help our elderly and youth programs.

Increase community participation in Town programs, committees, and meetings. Hold ward meetings for the residents and send out an email newsletter in order to keep resident's informed.

Continue to advocate for reduced speed limits throughout Ward 3.
Accomplishments in her first term

Championed improvements to Dial-A-Ride's schedule based on feedback from town seniors.

Changed town engineer to prevent more flooding in neighborhoods.

Worked with town Resource Recovery Committee to clean up Haviland Road, Wright Avenue and others; increased public awareness of and lengthened hours of operation for recycling.

Promoted shared agreements with Poughkeepsie, Pleasant Valley and Clinton to ensure clean water in the Fall Kill watershed.

Oversaw more improvements to parks and trails, including new proposed dog park.

Simplified zoning and sign codes to make the town business friendly and easier for residents to follow.

Internship with the Congressional Office of Maurice D. Hinchey, 22nd District of NY- where she cooperated with federal agencies such as FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and followed through on casework by writing formal letters to constituents about their federal concerns such as Medicare and social security issues
